Dominik Szoboszlai has told Jurgen Klopp "it doesn't matter to me where I play" following his £60million transfer to Liverpool.

Szoboszlai's switch from RB Leipzig to the Reds was announced on Sunday. The Hungary international, 22, has agreed a five-year contract on Merseyside and is Liverpool's second summer signing after World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister arrived from Brighton.

Liverpool will try to qualify for the Champions League next season after failing to do so last time around. Midfield was arguably Liverpool's weakest department last term and Klopp has responded to that criticism by bringing in Szoboszlai and Mac Allister.

Szoboszlai is an attacking midfielder by trade but is willing to play wherever to help the team. Liverpool fans will be looking forward to seeing the creative star on show after he scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists for Leipzig last season.

Szoboszlai spoke to Liverpool's website on joining the club. He was asked what his preferred position is, to which he replied: "To be honest, for me it doesn’t matter - I want to be on the pitch. But of course everybody has their own position.

"Of course, attacking midfielder as a 10, I can play on both 10s, left, right, on the sides also. Just I want to play."

Szoboszlai was also asked to describe his game. He said: "I’m a player who can play box to box; quite fast but not the fastest as I see the players here. I have quite a good shot. But I’m not only me, it’s the team, so I’m looking forward [to that]."

Szoboszlai is a product of Red Bull's football group after winning four Austrian Bundesliga titles, three Austrian Cups and two German Cups during his time with Salzburg and Leipzig. He is a former Austrian Bundesliga Player of the Season.

Szoboszlai has also done well at international level. Despite being only 22, he is Hungary's captain and has won 32 caps to date. He scored the winner in their 1-0 home win against England a year ago and is hoping to lead his country to Euro 2024 qualification.

Klopp has told Liverpool's website he is "excited" to add Szoboszlai to his squad. The Liverpool boss said: "He has made some big strides - moving to Leipzig, doing really, really well in the Bundesliga... captain of his national team at an incredibly young age.

"These are proper positives and this is even before we even think about his qualities as a footballer. I will not say too much about them at this stage except they are definitely the kind which will hopefully bring a lot of enjoyment and also help us to get results.

"There is no pressure, though. Dominik is still a very young player. He has so much development ahead of him and this means it makes sense for us all to be patient and to give him the time and space to allow his talent to come through within our team."

Klopp added: "Everything about this is good news and I am very grateful to everyone at the club who has contributed to making it happen. This is a signing for our present and also for our future and the work that has gone into it could not be more appreciated."
