Dog attack in cemetery leaves four in hospital after being injured in mauling

Four people were taken to hospital following a dog attack in a cemetery yesterday.

They suffered bites in the incident, which happened at Margravine Cemetery near the Barons Court area of Hammersmith, West London, at around 11.15am. The victims' injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The graveyard is right next to the Queen's Club tennis lawns, reports My London.

When Metropolitan Police and paramedics dashed to the scene, they found a dog which was restrained and seized by officers. They are now trying to confirm what breed the canine is.

A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog and is now being quizzed at a West London police station.

A Met Police spokesperson added: "Detectives from the Central West Command Unit are investigating. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference CAD 2817/01Jul."

A man has been arrested after a number of people were attacked by a dog in Hammersmith.

Police were called at about 11:15hrs on Saturday, 1 July to reports that several people had been injured in a cemetery on Field Road, W6. Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service.

The officers were able to locate the dog and it was safely restrained before being seized. Enquiries remain ongoing to establish its breed.

Four people self-presented at hospital with puncture wounds. Their conditions were assessed as not life-threatening.
