Who Dares Wins 'recruits Love Island icon' for latest celebrity season

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins has reportedly recruited Love Island icon Ovie Soko for their latest series.

The Channel 4 series has a star-studded line-up of contestants competing against each other in harsh environments in a two-week training course.

Past celebrity contestants include AJ Odudu, Katie Price, Joey Essex, Alexandra Burke, and fellow Love Island stars Wes Nelson and Amber Gill.

And now, it has been reported that basketball player and reality star Ovie has joined the list of stars testing their endurance.

Ovie, 32, is best known for his incredible appearance on the fifth series of Love Island. He finished in third place with India Reynolds. But many still remember him as one of the hunkiest Islanders the show has seen.

Speaking to The Sun, a source claimed: "Ovie jumped at the chance to take part and flew out earlier this week.

"He’s a basketball player so he’s hoping the fact he’s an athlete will give him an advantage over the other stars."

Mirror have contacted Ovie's reps for comment.

It was recently reported that Boris Johnson's sister Rachel has signed up for the gruelling series, too. The 57-year-old is Channel 4's "star signing", a source recently said.

Meanwhile, the original SAS: Who Dares Wins series was axed after eight years on air.

Channel 4 is putting a focus on the celebrity edition due to the popularity of it.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 told The Sun: "Due to the huge success of Celebrity SAS we have shifted our focus to prioritise this strand. A longer, eight-part series is to commence filming in the summer."

Another spokesperson told Deadline that the series was being "rested" as opposed to being permanently axed.

One source previously said losing the show was a "disturbing sign" for the channel.

"Losing such a big-name show is a disturbing sign for C4 as it faces an uncertain future in a market which will be difficult for even the biggest broadcasters and streaming services.

"Although the show’s celebrity spin-off will continue, losing the civilian version will be worrying given that it’s one of the channel’s best-known brands. The fear now is that it may be a sign of things to come," a TV insider told The Sun.
