Liverpool made a lightning-fast start to the summer transfer window - but now things are proving tricky.
The Reds swiftly completed the signing of Brighton and Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister for an initial £45million earlier this month, a move which helps Jurgen Klopp replenish his side following a series of outgoings. Now Liverpool want to further strengthen their midfield department, as well as other areas in the team.
Whether it be in defence or attack, Klopp is keen to bolster his squad in his quest to bring Champions League football back to Anfield following a disappointing campaign. With pre-season just around the corner, the Reds are wasting no time in attempting to get deals wrapped up and build on the arrival of MacAllister, but it's much easier said than done.
Here's a round-up of the latest transfer news from Anfield.
After reportedly lodging a £68million bid to sign Juventus winger Federico Chiesa last summer, Liverpool have once again been linked with a move for the 25-year-old Italy international. Juve are said to be open to selling Chiesa, although the player insists that his focus remains firmly on his current employers.
Klopp's dream Liverpool line up as last-gasp January transfers rejected"I am here working with the international team and our goal in the Nations League, then we will see," the ex-Fiorentina star declared during the recent international fixtures. "I am at Juventus and I am thinking about Juventus."

Liverpool now face a stumbling block in their pursuit of Spanish wonderkid Gabri Veiga, who Celta Vigo have already slapped a €40m (£34m) price tag on. According to Calciomercato, the Spain under-21 international is being targeted by Italian champions Napoli.
The Italian outlet adds that Veiga is highly rated by Liverpool, but the Reds now must fend off Napoli in order to acquire his services this summer. The newly-crowned kings of Serie A can offer Champions League football which Jurgen Klopp and co can't, and Viega isn't the only target who the two clubs could be squabbling over this summer.
Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, who Liverpool have been tipped to sign on multiple occasions, has also emerged as a target for Napoli. Koopmeiners, 25, has enjoyed two seasons in Italy which have seen him continue his progression after starting out at Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.
Gazzetta Dello Sport now claim that Napoli are waiting for the right moment to make a move. The Netherlands international is able to play in defence, midfield and an advanced role which would be a handy option for both clubs, particularly Liverpool given their need for new blood.
