A teenager and two adults were rushed to hospital after a dog attack inside a home.

The incident took place in the early hours of the morning of June 23 in a property in Leverington, Cambridgeshire.

Dangerous dog officers were called to the home just after 3am, finding three people involved injured at the scene.

Emergency services remained at the scene through the early hours and into the morning with a cordon placed around the house.

An investigation is also currently ongoing into the incident, reports Cambridgeshire Live.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: "We were called at 3.08am this morning by the ambulance service reporting three people had been injured as a result of an attack by a dog within a house in Leafere Way, Leverington.

"Those injured - a 43-year-old woman, a 14-year-old girl and a 28-year-old man - are all currently being treated in hospital. However, the injuries are not deemed to be life-threatening.

"Police dog handlers and dangerous dog officers attended the incident and have seized the dog. No arrests have been made."

it comes after warnings global warming is fuelling an alarming rise in dog attacks, according to new research.

The risk of being bitten increases by up to 11% on sunny or smoggy days, scientists say.

High temperatures and air pollution has previously been linked to aggression in humans, monkeys, rats and mice.

Now a study spanning 10 years has found the phenomenon also applies to man's best friend.

Last year, there were nearly 22,000 cases of out-of-control dogs causing injury in the UK.

In 2018, there were just over 16,000.

Four fatal attacks have already happened in 2023 - a dog walker mauled to death, a four-year-old girl killed in her back garden, a 37 year old man mauled to death and earlier this month a woman in her 70s.
