A couple who run a holiday home say they are fed up with "disgusting" Brits who wreck the house, intimidate locals, and even wet the bed.

Glynn Jones, 58, used to work as a joiner but when he sold his family home in 2005 he decided to travel the world, eventually ending up in Croatia.

With his new partner, 63-year-old Anne, he bought a property near Split with two old houses which the pair modernised - one to live in, and the other to rent out to tourists through Airbnb.

Each year the rental property hosts hundreds of tourists, but Glynn, from Surrey, said that every season he'll get a group of Brits who are completely inconsiderate - and it's usually stags and hens.

Glynn said: "Every season you get some, they're totally disrespectful - wetting beds and throwing up, abusive - you get it all.

"It's not pleasant.

"We're in a village just outside Split, Croatia - we moved here in 2005 from Surrey.

"We went travelling around the world for a year and decided that everywhere we went was better than the UK. We thought we could provide better accommodation than where we stayed, so we decided to do it ourselves.

"We've got a five-bed house old stone house, and we live next door in another house.

"There's plenty of room, we can fit ten people comfortably and 12 at a push, we have a swimming pool, a barbecue, a big terrace with lots of plants and stuff - it's a really nice place and most people that come say it is and they're respectful, we get lots of returning guests.

"Each year we get at least one group of ten or twelve that we would really rather not have. Generally, they are young Brits, about 19, 20, 21, that kind of age.

"Young Brits are our worst guests."

Split is the second-largest city of Croatia and is towards the south of the country, on the coast, and it's known for pristine beaches, warm seas, and a relaxed attitude.

And recently it's become a destination for stag and hen parties, with rowdy brits jetting over en masse for some drunken fun in the sun.

Glynn continued: "I think Croatia has a name now as a place to go for hens and stags. They arrive and they're absolutely drunk, and in town you see how disgusting these people are.

"We get them loud, they make a mess, wet beds, vomit everywhere.

"The last group were the worst we ever had, one wet the bed and they damaged furniture - there were cigarettes put out on window sills even though it's no smoking inside.

"I went out and said, 'can you keep it down', they were making an awful noise and it was unacceptable. I said, 'I can't hear the TV' and they said, 'you should turn the TV up then'.

"We're in the house next door, there was music blaring and they were singing, it was almost like a football ground type of singing, it was incredibly loud.

"They were being intimidating. I said, 'turn it down please', most people say sorry and it might creep up again, but this group wouldn't be quiet.

"People complain about rules but it's the guests that make those rules, we came here without wanting to make any and over the years we've had to say you can't do this you can't do that, because people just abuse you.

"You have to tell them what they can and can't do. We always tell people you have to be quiet, now we have to close the pool at night - if they would be quiet they could use it all night, but no matter how much they promise they just don't do it."
