Kiuyoyou Shrine is an early game Shrine found in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and requires some precise commandeering of the elements to solve.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features over 150 Shrines for players to test their mettle against, which in turn reward you with a Light of Blessing to power up your health and stamina with. After you've conquered the initial four shrines in the games tutorial section, you're not shown the locations of any of the other shrines on the map, and will have to head out into the world and find them on your own instead.

Most shrines come equipped with a brain teaser to test your knowledge of the game and its mechanics – such as Link's four new powers Ascend, Ultrahand, Fuse, and Recall. One of the shrines you're likely to come across in the early game is the Kiuyoyou Shrine, which challenges you to harness the powers of fire and ice – in tandem with Ultrahand – to your benefit.

The Kiuyoyou Shrine can be found to the northwest of Hyrule Castle. If you follow the path directly from New Serenne Stable north you'll come upon it at the side of the road. Alternatively, you can head over to the Lindor's Brow Skyview Tower and launch yourself out of the top and float northeast towards the shrine in the distance.

The Kiuyoyou Shrine location is in an area called Rowan Plain – which can be found to the north of Salari Hill – so if you see that appear in the corner you're in the right place.

Kiuyoyou Shrine solution: Fire and Ice

Head into the shrine and you'll be confronted with two locked gates; one to your left with a button on the floor in a nearby alcove, and one gate directly in front of you. The button will open the left-hand gate, but you need to pop something weighty on there to keep it open for long enough to get through. Helpfully, there's a big block of ice sitting nearby but it's far too large in its current state to do the job.

Pick up the ice block with your Ultrahand ability, take it over to the flame spewing from the roof on the right side of the arena, and melt it just enough so that it can fit into the button alcove. Then stick it on to open the left-hand gate.

Once you're through the left gate you'll notice a small opening in the wall to the left with a ledge above it. Pick up the ice block, and manoeuvre it on top of the ledge. Stand in the opening under the ledge, and use your Ascend ability to melt through both it and the ice block. Up here you'll find Kiuyoyou Shrine's hidden chest, which holds a Zonaite Spear.

Hop back down to the floor, and head over to the opposite side of the room where there's a ramp with wind flowing out from underneath it. Use your paraglider to catch the air and fly all the way across the chasm in front of it.

On this side of the area, you'll find a square tile directly in front of you that you can grab with Ultrahand. Pick it up and place it across the fire-spewing wall on the left so that the falling ice doesn't get immediately melted. Pull a block of ice out of harms way, and once you've done so, grab the tile again and attach it flat atop the ice block – make sure the ice is completely covered on top.

Pull the ice block over to the spikey slope nearby and place it ice-side down. Let it slide all the way back down the slop to the other side of the chasm, near the gate we entered the left-hand room through. You can use the wind to give you a boost to glide back over, or if you want to be cool, jump and grab the ice block and slide down with it.

Take that block of ice with the tile attached and place it underneath the fire spewing roof at the other side of the room. The tile will protect your ice block and it'll press down the button underneath the fire spout, opening the gate in the centre of the room and giving you safe passage to the Light of Blessing at the end. Congrats.
