The wife of disgraced Castleford Tigers star Joe Westerman was reportedly sent the graphic video of her husband performing a sex act on another woman before it was leaked online.

The clip, seen by The Mirror, went viral on social media as it showed the rugby league player carrying out the X-rated act on a woman in public down an alleyway.

Before being leaked across social media however, the clip was sent across to Westerman's wife Lauren, according to The Sun. Per the report, Lauren said: "I'm thinking about our children at the moment. To be honest none of this has sunk in yet. I'm trying to process what has happened."

Also revealing she had not spoken to the 33-year-old rugby league player since, the mother-of-three told the Daily Mail: "I just wish it had never happened. My poor children!

"I haven’t really spoken to my husband. I’m seeing to all the children. There’s nothing I want to say to be honest. I don’t think anything I say is going to help."

After the clip emerged online, Westerman was issued with a fine from his club, just days before the 2023 Super League season kicks off later this week.

Following the controversy, the 33-year-old offered a grovelling apology to both his family and Castleford. In a statement through the club, he said: "Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly apologise to my family and friends for my actions.

"I'd also like to apologise to the supporters, sponsors, staff, and directors of Castleford Tigers as well as my teammates. I’d like to extend this apology to the game of rugby league, and I have realised that I need to work on my decision-making around alcohol."

Castleford are set to kick off their 2023 Super League season this coming weekend, when they make the away trip to Hull FC in their campaign opener on Sunday.

Loose forward Westerman started his career with the Castleford, making 103 appearances before moving on to play for Hull FC in 2011. He returned to his home-town club and signed a two-year deal from the 2022 season.
