Dallas Cowboys pass-rusher Micah Parsons had New York Giants rival Saquon Barkley’s back on social media after the running back came under fire from a fan and told the franchise to cough up for their star man.
Barkley’s situation at the giants is far from smooth at the moment, with the player unhappy with not receiving a pay day, and so a franchise tag was placed on him after tying down quarterback Daniel Jones to an extension. The 26-year-old has said that he will not be signing the franchise tag, which makes him ineligible to participate in offseason workouts next week.
Barkley was accused by a fan on Twitter for “wearing down” over the 2022 season, pointing towards his decline in rushing yards in the second half of the year. Such stats are an argument as to why the Giants have not met Barkley’s demand.
However, Cowboys star Parsons wasn’t in the mood to hear criticism of Barkley, despite being rivals on the field. “I mean yeah that’s what happens when you the best players on your team you idiot!!” Parsons said on Twitter.
“The scheme on Monday morning is we well not let SAQUON BARKLEY BEAT Us!! People just think we be out here playing free for all!! like gtfo! That mf is that offense! Pay him!”
Joe Burrow backs Patrick Mahomes after Kansas City Chiefs reach Super BowlDespite the drop off in rushing yards, Barkley is coming off the back of one of his best seasons to date in the NFL. He had 1,650 yards from scrimmage and rushed for 10 touchdowns to earn his second Pro Bowl selection.
The Giants are expected to be busy in the NFL Draft later this month. The New York franchise has ten picks in April’s draft, including the 25th in the first round.
A wide receiver and a cornerback are said to be high on the Giants’ agenda.
Mississippi State Bulldogs star Emmanuel Forbes could be available come the time the Giants get to pick. The 22-year-old’s career 14 interceptions are appealing to franchises.
