Britain's Got Talent's Bruno Tonioli says some of the contestants are 'demented'

Britain's Got Talent judge Bruno Tonioli dubbed some of the contestants "absolutely demented" as he discussed their talent.

The star, who is best known for Strictly Come Dancing, joined the BGT judging panel this season alongside Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden.

He replaced controversial comedian David Walliams after the latter apologised for making "disrespectful comments" about auditioning contestants during breaks in filming the show in January 2020.

Although it was Bruno's first time on the competition, he said he had a "ball" watching the incredible talent.

He said: "I had a ball, partly because I had never seen it before. It’s true! Simon has teased me to death about it.

"I didn’t even watch Strictly – I don’t watch shows that have a judging panel, because I don’t want to be influenced by another judge."

He continued to tell the Radio Times : "I just want to do my own thing. But I had the best time. It’s a proper variety show and the range of talent is incredible. Some of the contestants are absolutely demented, I have to say."

Earlier this year, Bruno joked that Britain's Got Talent will become the "biggest show" now that he's part of it.

Gushing about his move to ITV, the star said: “This is the biggest show on British TV, now that I’m here. I mean it. Simon is going to hate that I’ve said that but oh well.”

He went on: “I have nothing bad to say about Strictly, it changed my life. But this is completely different.

"It’s a completely different sort of judging. The range of this show, you see things that you have no idea are coming.

“I have been in showbiz for 50 years now and I’ve worked with everyone from Tina Turner and French and Saunders to Michael Caine, so I know when something works and I know why it works.

“I know what this job needs."

The hit reality TV programme is returning to screens on Saturday, April 15 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

The second episode will be shown the next night with judges taking to the panel from 7.45pm on April 16 on ITV1 and STV.
