Manchester United are monitoring six strikers as Erik ten Hag pushes to make three signings in the summer transfer window.

The defeat to Newcastle highlighted United's major weaknesses under Ten Hag this season. The most glaring has been at striker, with Wout Weghorst struggling to lead the line for the Red Devils following his January loan move to Old Trafford.

But that is not the only position of concern, with Newcastle also dominating the midfield battle. While that came with the caveat of Casemiro being suspended and Christian Eriksen out with injury, Ten Hag clearly needs to improve his options.

Both of Newcastle's goals also exposed United's vulnerability in defence, with neither Diogo Dalot nor Aaron Wan-Bissaka having proven themselves this campaign. According to the Athletic, United's 'priority position' heading into the summer is centre forward.

Tottenham captain Harry Kane is said to be 'prime' in Ten Hag's thoughts as the window approaches. While Kane appears to be their top target, he is not United's sole focus, with five other players also being monitored.

The top scorer in Serie A, Victor Osimhen, is among those being monitored, having scored 21 goals to help Napoli in their charge towards the Italian title. Benfica's Goncalo Ramos is also being scouted following his famous hat-trick for Portugal in the World Cup after replacing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Brighton's Evan Ferguson has also attracted admiring glances from United, having recently received high praise from PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe. Meanwhile, rising stars Randal Kolo Muani, of Eintracht Frankfurt, and Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund, both look set to be made available this summer, with United keeping abreast of their respective situations.

While centre forward is being made a priority, a new centre midfielder in the style of a No 8 is also wanted. Finally, if those two positions are sorted in the summer window, United will pursue a new right-back.

Wan-Bissaka has fought his way back into Ten Hag's plans, particularly with his performance off the bench in the Carabao Cup final. But the Englishman is still struggling to dislodge Dalot as first-choice.

United are ready to listen to offers for the former Crystal Palace star, who was heavily linked with an exit from the Red Devils last summer. Meanwhile, Dalot's contract is set to enter its final year, with talks ongoing over a new deal.

If Wan-Bissaka does indeed leave the Red Devils, a new attacking right-back will be sought. Benjamin Pavard is one of the men on United's shopping list for that position, with exploratory talks having already been held.

Denzel Dumfries could also be an option, with Ten Hag an admirer of the Netherlands international. He is thought to be preparing to leave Inter Milan this summer, with United's interest growing.
