'I love an Eastenders name for my baby - but people say it's inappropriate'
Inspiration for baby names can come from the unlikeliest of sources, but often expectant mums and dads will get ideas from their favourite books, television shows, and music.
One mum recently decided to name her twins after a band she loves, and got mocked for her choices, while another parent accidentally opted for monikers inspired by a children's programme.
And now another couple has come forward to confess they are considering a name inspired by the popular soap Eastenders.
Writing anonymously online, the mum-to-be shared how she'd heard the name Honey on an episode of the BBC One show, because of the character Honey Mitchell, and her partner was also a fan of it.
She turned to BabyCentre to find out what fellow parents made of the moniker, but it seems they weren't so keen on it.
Baby boy has spent his life in hospital as doctors are 'scared' to discharge himHer post read: "Opinions please. After watching Eastenders lol, I have suggested the name Honey to husband, he likes it. Just wanted to know opinions as I know it can be a bit of a Marmite name! Also what middle name could go with it?"
One person branded it "cheap" while another said it just sounded like "something you put on toast".
Someone else replied: "Please no... imagine a 50-year-old teacher calling her 'Honey', that's inappropriate. Imagine it on a 30-year-old."
A second said: "I could not imagine it on a professional woman."
"It's not for me," proclaimed a third. "I find it very sickly and along the same lines as Angel, Crystal, Sapphire, etc. It just sounds very cheap to me (sorry!) I definitely wouldn't want to be an adult called Honey. A middle name at best!"
A different user added: "The name Honey gives me stripper vibes."
However, not everyone was opposed to the name, with a fellow mum admitting: "I love it actually. I wouldn't use it though because I already have two girls with very feminine names and one is a bit cute, I don't really want that as a theme. Personally, I like it with Frankie, but not as much with Summer. I wouldn't be put off if you love it though, it's lovely by itself."
Another agreed, saying: "I can't see anything strange about it, I think of it as a bit of a celeb name, I think Fearne Cotton chose it. I do know a couple in real life, one is a nn for Harmony. It goes fine with Amelia, also Honey Lois, Honey Aurora, Honey Evangeline."
