Two-time darts world champion Peter 'Snakebite' Wright has vowed he will not let his disappointing Premier League run "ruin" his career.

Wright has won just one match so far and currently sits in last place with just two points. And the 53-year-old has been left questioning his decision to skip ProTour events this year after a nightmare run of form in the Premier League.

"Having the time off has backfired," he admitted to Online Darts. "I thought if I have time off, it'll keep me fresh for the Premier League and the Europeans, but obviously it's not working.

"Maybe I have to go back to the ProTour events to keep me sharp. I don't know, we'll have to see."

However, Wright remains confident he can "turn it around" and has insisted his struggles are not going to ruin his career. When asked if the repeated defeats are playing on his mind, Wright said: "No, not at all.

"Other players would think about it, I presume, but I just turn up each week. It doesn't matter. I know I can beat any of these guys in any tournament if I turn up so it doesn't put a negative on my game at all.

"It's the Premier League, it's not quite working but next week it'll turn and I'll start winning and I'll qualify and everyone will go 'where did he come from?' I'm losing every week, but it's one of those things.

"Somebody's got to lose, but it's the way you deal with it. If you deal with it fine and don't let it affect you.

"It's ruined many, many dart players careers the Premier League and it's not going to ruin mine because I know how to win. I know how to win big majors and I will turn it around."
