McFly are on a mission: to save the guitar.
The group – who formed 20 years ago, in 2003, to make everyone feel old – have announced their upcoming 7th album, Power to Play, will be released in June.
But first, they will be lamenting the demise of proper guitar music in the aptly titled single, Where Did All The Guitars Go?, out tomorrow.
I’m A Celeb star Dougie Poynter, The Voice’s Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher and Harry Judd of Strictly Come Dancing fame have gone back to their day jobs, and aim to revive the forgotten art of playing instruments in pop music – but have a grumble.
They say: “We love being on tour and playing live, and we hate this weird pressure where you don’t get played on the radio if you have guitars in your songs.

They added in a statement: “On every album, there’s a song which becomes a foundation, a lightbulb moment, and this was it.
“We want to reach that kid with long hair, get them excited about music and make them want to pick up a guitar and jump on their bed.”
