Kurt Cobain was 'murdered' claims an award-winning author and filmmaker, who is challenging Courtney Love to set the record straight with a polygraph.
Ian Halperin is offering the actress and singer, 58, the chance to take a polygraph to answer questions about Cobain's death, which is believed to have been suicide.
The Nirvana front man was found dead aged 27 at his home in the Lake Washington neighborhood of Seattle on April 8, 1994.
The singer was holding the shotgun which had killed him with the coroner and the Seattle Police Department declaring the death a suicide.
Yet Halperin claims he has a "convincing argument" the Cobain didn't kill himself.

Halperin claims he has evidence Kurt was murdered but he doesn't accuse anyone including his widow Courtney Love.
However, the author thinks a lie detector test would help clear up Love's name after years of speculation with die-hard Nirvana fans who have questioned the death.
“In this book, I conclude unwaveringly, the police got it wrong a thousand percent, and it was a murder," Halperin told The U.S. Sun.
“The verdict should be changed from suicide to murder. “I'm not accusing anybody of murder, but I do challenge Courtney to finally take a polygraph. I will pay for it to clear her name.
“She's been accused of being involved in this for so many years. If she passes, I will buy a billboard in Times Square and say on the billboard, ‘Courtney Love is innocent’.
He added that Courtney should "get on the trial" to help find Cobain's "killers".
The author feels Love, who is mom to the couple’s only daughter Frances Bean Cobain, is likely to respond to his offer and book with “a big denial.”
Kurt and Courtney married in 1992 until his untimely death.
Kurt's body was discovered at least 34 hours later by an electrician at his home.
