Women's Football Weekend is a huge landmark in the domestic calendar as clubs up and down the country come together to celebrate the talent within the game and its incredible rise.

The inaugural weekend took place in November 2019, following the success of the Women's World Cup in France. Supporters are encouraged to attend games across the pyramid, as the men’s international weekend creates a pause in the Premier League and EFL calendars.

It's become a staple in the women's game and consists of unmissable action with huge fixtures in the title race and fight for survival. A number of clubs also make use of the break in the men's game and opt to stage their matches at Premier League or Championship grounds.

This weekend will be no different, with Manchester United Women set to return to Old Trafford on Saturday evening for their meeting with West Ham. Goodison Park will also host its first ever women's Merseyside derby on Friday evening as Everton and Liverpool go head to head.

Elsewhere, Villa Park will stage its third Women's Super League clash this season as Aston Villa prepare to welcome bottom-of-the-table Leicester City on Sunday afternoon. There's also some huge games at the top end of the table as Tottenham and Arsenal face off in the North London derby and title contenders Manchester City and Chelsea both look to take control of the race.

Reading already play their home fixtures at the Madejski but they're set to welcome Brighton in what is shaping up to be a crucial fixture at the bottom end of the table. There's also some big games in the Championship as Southampton host title rivals Bristol City at St Mary's on Sunday.

The first ever Women's Football Weekend back in November 2019 set a new attendance record in the WSL of 74,247 across the league. This year, it is hoped those numbers will be even greater as the WSL continues to see a steady increase in attendance following the success of the Lionesses at the Euros last summer.

It was announced before Christmas the division had seen a 200 per cent increase on the 2021/22 season. It was also revealed at the end of last year that Championship attendance was also up 85 per cent.

The first fixture of Women's Football Weekend will kick-off on Friday evening at 7:30pm as the Merseyside derby takes place, with Sky also set to broadcast the match along with Manchester United's game against West Ham on Saturday and the North London derby. The BBC will show the top-of-the-table clash between Chelsea and Manchester City on Sunday.
