Harry Ford was 'knighted' by his fellow Great Britain teammates on Chase Field, Arizona after his home-run performance on Monday evening - giving GB their first-ever win in the tournament.

The emerging Great Britain baseball star put in another spectacular performance for the team's win in the World Baseball Classic as they defeated Colombia.

Ford has hit two home runs in the competition, with the second coming at a big time with GB needing to win to keep their hopes of making it through their pool. Ford hammered a ball to left field that gave the team a 7-3 lead, enough for them to hold on to, beating Colombia 7-5.

The GB team is making their tournament debut at the fifth edition of the WBC, having lost to USA and Canada last week. Speaking on the win, Ford said: "It’s incredible, we’ve just gone out there and played our game…to be embraced by (the fans) and for them to love us so much, the energy…it’s been special.”

And after the win, a GB teammate placed a crown on Ford's head, with British fans already dubbing him 'Sir Harry Ford'.

The two home runs mean that Ford is the first player in the WBC to have done so before their 21st birthday. Ford is seen as one of the brightest prospects in Major League Baseball, having been drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 2021.

He chose to play for GB after qualifying through his parents, who are both from the United Kingdom, but both moved to the United States and met in Atlanta, with Harry being born in 2003.

Britain will play Mexico on Tuesday night, and will need a win to advance in the tournament. The final is being held next week in Miami.

Ford spent last season with the Modesto Nuts, a Single-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. He played 104 games, with 11 home runs, 23 stolen bases, 88 walks and 89 runs scored, playing both catcher and designated hitter throughout the campaign.
