Paul Pogba left with 'three options' at Juventus including terminating contract

Juventus have major reservations over Paul Pogba's long-term future less than 12 months after bringing him back to Turin - and they could even opt to terminate the Frenchman's contract in the summer.

Pogba, 29, enjoyed a trophy-laden four-year stint with the Italian giants after quitting Manchester United as a youngster before he returned for a second stint at Old Trafford.

He agreed to return to Serie A last summer after running down his latest deal at United - but his second spell in Italy has been an unmitigated disaster. After picking up a knee injury in pre-season, Pogba has spent the majority of the campaign on the sidelines and was dropped for last week's win over Freiburg in the Europa League for disciplinary reasons just weeks after being reintegrated into Massimiliano Allegri's side.

And it was confirmed on Sunday by Allegri that the midfielder, who has made just two appearances this term, will now miss the next couple of weeks after injuring his thigh whilst taking free-kicks in training.

A new report from Gazzetta dello Sport has outlined that, unsurprisingly, the Juventus hierarchy are less than enthused at how Pogba's return has played out over the past few months - and that drastic action could be taken.

It is claimed that the club are considering a number of options ahead of the summer. The first option would be renegotiating Pogba's lucrative deal with a view to him taking a pay cut as an 'act of responsibility' in the wake of his poor season. An alternative option would be for the club to keep things as they are in the hope things improve next season. The third - and most drastic - option, would be to seek an arrangement which would see the two parties rip up the four-year deal Pogba signed back in July.

Pogba's torrid season comes just months after he was heavily scrutinised during the final weeks of his Manchester United career.

Despite signing for a then-world record fee of £89million back in 2016, Pogba failed to have a significant impact during his second spell at Old Trafford and won just two trophies: the League Cup and the Europa League.

His time in Manchester was plagued by injuries, but he still managed to clock up over 220 appearances across a six-year period. Pogba played his final match for Manchester United in the chastening 4-0 defeat against Liverpool back in April, where he sustained a season-ending calf injury.

Juventus have endured a hugely disappointing season and are currently sat seventh in the Serie A standings - a staggering 30 points behind leaders Napoli.
