Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo shared a post about being 'grateful' as he celebrated his 35th birthday.

The actor, who is currently battling terminal brain cancer, took to Instagram to share a picture of himself celebrating his special day.

In the snap, Johnny sat in a gorgeous restaurant and smiled for the camera while rocking a grey Essentials sweatshirt.

A plate of dessert was placed in front of him along with a lit candle and a 'Happy Birthday' message written in chocolate.

Johnny, who is best known for playing Chris Harrington on the Australian soap, captioned the post: "35 and sure feeling it!!! Grateful for another lap around the sun, Thanks to everyone for all of the birthday wishes."

Fans and friends rushed to the comment section to wish him a happy birthday.

"Happy birthday buddy!! Love ya mate hope you had a ripper day champion," Australian singer Jason Owen said.

Home and Away castmate Lynne McGranger posted: "Happiest of birthdays darling. Hope you’re getting spoiled rotten."

"Happy Birthday to my favourite fighter hope you had an amazing day love ya Ruffy," one user commented.

Johnny was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in 2017. At the time, he had to have emergency surgery to remove the tumour after originally going to the doctor with a migraine.

At the beginning of March, Johnny shared an update with fans and revealed he is undergoing further treatment.

It was reported in 2019 that he was cancer-free, but Johnny announced in 2020 that it had returned. It's since been revealed that he's been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Johnny took to Instagram to share the latest on his journey as he revealed he was back in the hospital.

He posted a picture that showed him smiling as he sat in a hospital chair during a recent visit, with the Dancing with the Stars Australia winner seen giving a thumbs up in it.

Johnny, who has undergone rounds of chemotherapy over the last few years, appeared to be preparing to have another round of the treatment in the photo.

The actor - who rose to fame on The X Factor Australia in 2011 - wrote in the caption: "Back in my favourite chair." He used hashtags that said "I hate this chair" and "f*** cancer".
