Ryan Christie claimed the last-gasp defeat at Arsenal felt worse than Bournemouth’s 9-0 thrashing at Liverpool. “You almost grieve a bit after a loss like this,” said the Scotland star.
Gary O’Neil’s side took the lead after only 9.11 seconds through Philip Billing after a pre-planned move from kick-off and Marcos Senesi doubled the lead after 57 minutes. The Cherries could not hold onto the lead and a run of one win in 12 since the Premier League resumed after the World Cup sees them sink to the bottom of the table.
Scott Parker’s final game in charge was the Anfield humiliation in August- and Liverpool visit the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
Bournemouth showed how they have developed tactically and in confidence under O’Neil’s reign. And former Celtic midfielder Christie said after the defeat at Emirates Stadium: “It is just gutting because I thought the boys were superb from the first minute to the last. It is a sickener.
“Liverpool was a bad day for all of us. That was more of an embarrassing feeling, to be honest for myself, personally. We managed to bounce back from that superbly well.

“Today in a way it is even worse because we deserved something from the game. You take it to the absolute death of a game and somebody [Reiss Nelson] puts it in the top corner. That is the way football works sometimes. We can’t put it to bed right away.
“You probably take tonight and then tomorrow and Monday to almost grieve a bit after a loss like this. But you need to get going again. We have another massive game against a great team next week. There are plenty of positives to take from a performance like that but it is hard to see them right now.”
