Oleksandr Usyk explains why he refused to respond during Tyson Fury face-off

Oleksandr Usyk has explained why he decided to stay quiet as Tyson Fury hurled insults at him during the pair's face-off in London back in December.

The world heavyweight champions came face to face ahead of a prospective undisputed title bout after Fury stopped Derek Chisora to set up an impromptu meeting at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Talks are underway for the bout to take place, with Usyk seemingly agreeing to a deal for the pair to fight in Saudi Arabia this April.

Their face-off was as intense as it was confusing; Fury hurled every name under the sun at Usyk as his rival stood and listened, taking it all in. He has since broken his silence and began to trash talk in his own right, calling Fury "belly" in a series of social media videos calling out his fellow champion.

"I think I was able to get into his head a little bit," Usyk told The Guardian. "I have been watching Tyson Fury get into the heads of his opponents for many years. And then I got into his head. When there are no cameras, he is completely different. He plays the bad guy for the cameras. I think he likes movies about love and when he watches them he cries a little. And that’s not a bad thing. When I watch some sentimental movies, I can shed a tear too."

The Brit went on an incredible rant, telling his rival: "Usyk, you’re next you little b****. You are next. Me and you next. You’re next. Rabbit! P****! 15-stone little midget bodybuilder. Well, I ain’t a bodybuilder, I’m going to write you off. You ugly little man. Let's get it on, b****.

"You may laugh now but I’ll end this lil' sucker. I’ll end you. You little sucker. What are you gonna do? You’re gonna do f*** all, you little sausage."

Fury has generally stayed quiet since his verbal clash with Usyk, only emerging for interviews as he attended recent shows and helped to promote brother Tommy's upcoming bout with Jake Paul. Fury has yet to agree to terms for a venue, but it is expected that he and Usyk will fight on April 29 in the Middle East.
