A furious mum has vowed to boycott McDonald's after a sickening discovery in her son's burger.

The horrific extra ingredient was discovered in a Big Mac after it was delivered to her home.

Emine Hiassat said her 11-year-old son found a fly squashed into the bottom of his burger after Uber Eats delivered the food from a branch in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

She said: "He felt disgusted and said he never wants to get McDonald's again.

"As parents, we felt terrible.

"Our son is autistic and has ADHD, and he is very sensitive; that made it more difficult for us to explain why this happened.

"It was so clear I can't believe that someone could pack the food without checking."

Delivery firm Uber Eats refunded the family, but Mrs Hiassat says McDonald's needs to apologise.

She said: "We reported it to Uber eats straight away and they refunded the money we paid.

"McDonald's didn't do anything. We didn't get any response from them.

"First of all they need to apologise and need to improve their hygiene.

They need to show they care about their customers.

"They have to improve their hygiene and food quality, same as other take away foods. It is not acceptable."

The housewife added that she "definitely doesn't want to eat from them anymore".

A McDonald's spokesperson said their pest control reports for the location indicated no fly activity at the restaurant.

They said: "We are sorry to hear about this customer's experience.

"Food safety is of the utmost importance to us and we place great emphasis on quality control, following rigorous standards to avoid any imperfections.

"Pest control experts carry out regular routine checks of our restaurants, which is standard practice to help maintain our high hygiene standards.

"We can confirm that the customer has been refunded by Uber Eats."

The Mirror told recently how a fast food-lover filmed the moment a 'baby rat' or mouse scurried across a table at a McDonald's.

Teenager Chloe Thompson screamed and fled the restaurant when the little rodent made a move for her.

The 18-year-old was eating a sausage and egg McMuffin at the outlet in Tilbury, Essex, on January 4, when the alleged incident occurred.

In the clip the admin worker can be heard saying: "I feel like I'm in a dream."

A McDonald's spokesperson said: "Hygiene and cleanliness are of the utmost importance to us.

"Pest control experts visited the restaurant the same day that we were made aware of this sighting, they have also conducted a follow-up visit this week, and confirmed that there are no signs of pest activity anywhere inside.

"The Environmental Health Officer has visited and they too are satisfied that there is absolutely no issue with the restaurant.

"As standard practice, pest control experts carry out regular routine checks of the Tilbury restaurant and the surrounding area, which helps ensure the restaurant continues to maintain a Food Hygiene Rating of 5."
