Wreckage of missing cargo plane found off Pakistan as search continues for five crew
Search crews have recovered the wreckage of a plane that disappeared off the coast of Pakistan after losing contact with air traffic control during a flight from the United Arab Emirates.
Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority said search and rescue teams had been deployed to the Arabian Sea after the cargo aircraft went missing late on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday afternoon search teams reported that they had managed to locate and recover wreckage from the cargo plane, a Boeing 737, operated by Karachi-based K2 Airways.
The search continues for five missing crew members - Mohammad Rizwan Idrees (pilot in command), Faisal Mehmood (first officer), Muhammad Toufique Khan (load master), Arif Siddiqui (engineer) and Mohammad Hamid (engineer).
The last transmission from the pilot suggested he may have been struggling to control the plane as he described the aircraft as "rolling or floating", which experts are interpreting as suggesting something went wrong with the flying system.
