Falklands sovereignty row flares again under Milei’s aggressive rhetoric

Argentine President Javier Milei has openly supported his government’s bold attempt to reclaim the Falkland Islands from their British residents.

“We are doing everything humanly possible to bring the Falkland Islands back into Argentine hands,” Milei told Neura yesterday.

“Sovereignty is not negotiable, but it must be done judiciously, it must be done with intelligence.”

Trump’s plan to punish Nato allies was detailed in an internal Pentagon email revealed earlier today.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Nato as a “paper tiger” in recent weeks, and even suggested the possibility of leaving the alliance altogether.

Policy options to penalize the alliance were outlined in a note expressing frustration about allies who refused to grant the US access, basing, and overflight rights (ABO) for the Iran war.

The note, described to Reuters by an anonymous US official, argued that these rights are “just the absolute baseline for NATO.”

One option listed in the email was to remove Spain from the alliance altogether.

After the UK refused to allow the US to use its British bases to strike Iran at the start of the war, the note considered reevaluating support for longstanding European “imperial possessions.”
