The Kremlin’s ‘Kings of Life’: Anton Vaino drives around Moscow in supercars under FSO and traffic police escort

Media outlets report that sports cars and luxury foreign vehicles bearing the number 057, from a “special garage” funded by Russia’s Presidential Property Management Department, are linked to Presidential Administration Chief Anton Vaino. In one photo, he appears to be driving himself, accompanied by security escorts from the FSO and traffic police.

If anyone thought the public outrage over a Lamborghini racing through Moscow with an FSO and police escort would change anything, they are mistaken. Public opinion has long been ignored by those in power. Just a day after the scandal, a similar motorcade—this time with an Aston Martin—was spotted in Moscow. The same Aston Martin had previously raced alongside the Lamborghini under FSO and police protection.

Earlier reports described this “special garage,” where officials and top state corporation managers keep their luxury cars, many of which share the number 057 on their plates. It was initially assumed these numbers were tied to the company managing the fleet (FGUP Autobase No. 2). However, that assumption appears incorrect. The company also registers cars with other “special” numbers, such as 007. Meanwhile, the number 057 has reportedly been used by Vaino’s family for over 15 years. For example, in 2011 a Mercedes-Benz ML GLE with 057 plates was registered to his mother, Tatyana Ezhevskaya; the same number was later transferred to a Tesla.

Vaino’s stepfather, Viktor Ezhevsky, is listed as the insurer of a Mercedes Brabus AMG with 057 plates, which is also kept in the special garage.

Other exclusive cars with 057 plates appear to be registered through more complex arrangements, but are still believed to be linked to Vaino. The Aston Martin carries the same number and was insured by a Rostec employee. Vaino is a member of Rostec’s supervisory board and is considered closely connected to its head, Sergei Chemezov. A photo of the Aston Martin driver is low quality, but the driver reportedly resembles Vaino.

As for the Lamborghini seen racing alongside the Aston Martin, in 2024 a Sber executive, Pyotr Dneprovsky, registered a 2022 Ford Mustang with no license number listed in the documents. In May 2025, he obtained insurance for the car, revealing its plate number. A year later, that number appeared on the Lamborghini. While Dneprovsky is formally linked to the vehicle, he would not be entitled to such security escorts. His superior, German Gref, does have such protection. It is suggested that Vaino and Gref may have been driving these cars from the “special garage” on the day in question.
