Hell near the airport: a giant oil depot exploded and is burning in Bahrain
Fuel depot blaze erupts in Bahrain after attack blamed on Iran
Dramatic video released by Bahrain’s Interior Ministry shows a massive fire engulfing a fuel storage tank on Muharraq Island near Bahrain International Airport following an attack attributed to Iran.
Officials say the strike occurred amid a sharp escalation in the regional conflict, with Bahraini air defences reportedly intercepting more than 170 drones and 100 missiles launched toward the country in recent days.
The blaze broke out at a fuel facility close to the airport, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky as firefighters worked to contain the flames. Authorities have not yet released full details on casualties or damage, but the site is considered strategically sensitive due to its proximity to aviation and military infrastructure.
The attack forms part of a broader wave of strikes across Gulf states linked to the ongoing confrontation involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. Recent reports indicate that Iranian drones targeted Bahrain overnight, including facilities on Muharraq Island, igniting fuel tanks and disrupting operations.
Bahrain has repeatedly condemned the attacks as violations of its sovereignty and international law. Earlier strikes also damaged civilian infrastructure and energy facilities, underscoring the vulnerability of Gulf states hosting Western military assets.
Emergency crews remain on site as investigations continue, while officials warn that further attacks cannot be ruled out amid the rapidly deteriorating security situation in the region.
