Two men have been charged following a robbery at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3 car park in which 21 people — including a three-year-old child — were exposed to a noxious substance.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have each been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of administering a noxious substance over the incident on Sunday.

Police were called at 8:11am after reports that multiple people had been injured by a spray in the multi-storey car park. Officers say the incident began when two women were robbed of their suitcases after leaving a lift. The men allegedly used what is believed to be pepper spray, which then affected others nearby.

Ambulance crews treated 21 people at the scene; five were taken to hospital, though all have since been discharged.

The Metropolitan Police said investigations are ongoing.
