Single mother dies after plunging from 10th floor of Madrid tower block with three-year-old twins

A woman has died after falling from the tenth floor of a tower block with her three-year-old twins in her arms.

The 48-year-old was killed instantly, and her children were rushed to the hospital alive but ’critically injured’ following the horrific incident in Madrid this morning.

Currently only known as Maria, the Spanish mother was said to have bought presents for the youngsters from a nearby shop just hours earlier.

The family had gathered a day before to celebrate the children’s birthday.

One of the twins has been admitted to Madrid’s 12 de October University Hospital, and the other is in a children’s hospital called the Hospital Infantil Nino Jesus.

Medics are said to have serious concerns that the more seriously injured of the two children may not survive.

Their mother lived alone after separating from her husband.

Locals said she suffered from depression and was taking medication.

The apartment block the woman fell from is located on a street called calle Ricardo Ortiz in Ciudad Lineal, a quiet, residential neighborhood around 30 minutes from Madrid city center.

A spokesman for the city ambulance service said: ’We can confirm the death of a woman who fell from the tenth floor of a block of flats in Ricardo Ortiz.

’Two children aged three have been taken to different hospitals.

’National police are conducting an ongoing investigation. Local police and firefighters were also mobilized.’
