Former doctor charged with 45 counts of sexual assault against 38 patients
A former doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients under his care.
Nathaniel Spencer, from Birmingham, is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault, some involving children under the age of 13, between 2017 and 2021.
Ben Samples, a deputy chief prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “Our prosecutors have extensively supported a detailed and intricate investigation by Staffordshire police, thoroughly reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is enough evidence to bring the case to trial and that pursuing criminal proceedings is in the public interest.”
The charges result from an investigation into alleged sexual offenses at the Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on January 20. He will face 45 charges: 15 counts of sexual assault, 17 counts of assault by penetration, nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, and one count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Anyone with concerns has been urged to contact Staffordshire police.
