Multiple people injured after shooting and fire at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc
Several people were reportedly injured after a shooting and fire incident occurred at a church in Michigan, according to local authorities.
The incident happened at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, a community roughly 50 miles north of Detroit.
In a statement on Facebook, the Grand Blanc Township Police Department confirmed that "multiple victims" were reported and the suspected shooter was "down," as reported by news agency Reuters.
"There is no threat to the public at this time. The church is actively on fire," Reuters quoted the police department, which also urged residents to avoid the area as emergency responders worked on the scene.
The authorities have not yet provided details regarding the number of injured or the circumstances of the gunfire and subsequent fire.
As of late Sunday, law enforcement and emergency services were continuing their response. Further updates from investigators are expected as the situation develops, the report added.
