Rhode Island braces for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding of the year as Swift’s $1.7m mansion gets a makeover
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce might get married in Rhode Island, a source informs Page Six.
While some publications have reported that the couple is in no rush to marry, our insider tells us, “They are getting married next summer in Rhode Island. She is eager to have children.”
Although a wedding of this high profile can draw complaints from locals (referencing Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s Venice wedding), Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee is hoping the couple chooses his state for their nuptials.
“Rhode Island boasts some of the best wedding venues in the world, just saying,” McKee commented on a repost of the couple’s wedding announcement on social media last week.

Swift’s mansion in the town of Westerly’s Watch Hill area is currently undergoing a $1.7 million renovation according to a building permit obtained by the Providence Journal.
The updates will include a new wing with a 16-by-24 foot bedroom and more bathrooms, as well as a kitchen update.
Swift purchased the home in 2013 for $17.5 million, and it already features 8 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and 5.23 acres with gardens and a swimming pool.

The mansion became famous for Swift’s star-studded Fourth of July parties. Last August, Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes were spotted at one of her pool parties.
Swift even immortalized the estate in her hit, “The Last Great American Dynasty,” from the 2020 album “Folklore.”
The lyrics tell the story of the mansion’s former owner, Rebekah Harkness, the scandalous socialite who married Standard Oil heir William Hale Harkness in 1947 and would fill the pool with champagne.

It is unclear whether the wedding would take place at her home or a venue in the area.
(In June, a so-called “Taylor Swift Tax” was passed in the state, charging non-primary residents $2.50 for every $500 of assessed property value above $1 million.)
Page Six previously reported the couple plans to have a “private” ceremony with family and close friends.
“It will be more casual than people think,” a source told us.
The Grammy-winning singer and the Super Bowl champion announced their engagement on Aug. 26 with a series of photos taken in his garden with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

On the Sept. 3 episode of Kelce’s podcast, his cohost brother Jason said, “I cannot wait to hear more about the planning and everything that will take place. Travis, you’re about to embark on the wedding planning phase of a relationship.”
Kelce said he initially planned to propose on the water but decided against it to do something more tailored for Taylor.
“I would just say, know your partner, know who you’re doing it for, and do it for the right reasons, and everything else will be beautiful,” he said.
