Three customers across the UK face new voice service outage — some unable to reach even 999
Three mobile customers say they have been unable to make or receive calls this morning.
More than 9,300 issues were reported on the outage detection site Down Detector.
Angry customers asked what was happening, with some saying this was not the first time they had experienced problems.
Posting on DownDetector, one user wrote they were unable even to call the emergency number 999.
Another user, M Foot, said: ‘No voice calls to or from my phone, not for the first time either.’

Meanwhile A Majeed wrote: ‘This has been happening on and off over the last 18 months. Especially for those of us who rely on the network for work purposes. Have been considering a change of networks to be honest. Will we get a reduction in monthly cost or reimbursement for downtime? I dont think so.’
People reported problems in areas including Dorset, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Nottingham, and Suffolk.
Three said: ‘We’re aware of an issue affecting voice services and are working hard to fix it.
‘Data services are working normally. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.’
It comes after users reported problems at Three in January this year, with some again saying they were unable even to call 999.
A spokesperson said at the time: ‘We are aware of a number of reports that customers have not been able to connect to 999 calls. Data from the emergency services shows that normal volumes of 999 calls being placed via our network are being connected.
‘We are taking these reports very seriously and are investigating this urgently, and we apologise if anyone has been unable to successfully contact emergency services.
‘While it is likely your call will connect correctly to 999, if you have any issues please try another network or landline. Please do not try and test 999 calls from your device as it may prevent genuine calls being answered quickly.’
