Biggest leak in history: nearly 16 billion records from Apple, Facebook, and Google exposed – Forbes
Nearly 16 billion records from Apple, Facebook, and Google accounts have been exposed in what experts are calling the largest data leak in history, according to Forbes.
The breach is part of a large-scale investigation that has been ongoing since early 2025. Experts say the incident is linked to a network of infostealers — individuals who specialize in stealing user data.
So far, researchers have uncovered 30 separate databases, each containing anywhere from tens of millions to more than 3.5 billion records. In total, the number of compromised records has reached 16 billion, according to Cybernews.
“This isn’t recycled data from old breaches. This is fresh, real-time usable information — and there’s a lot of it,” experts warn. The compromised data includes billions of credentials from social networks, VPN services, developer platforms, and accounts belonging to major corporations.
Most of the stolen information appears in the format: URL – login – password. These combinations provide direct access to almost any online service — including Apple, Facebook, Google, GitHub, Telegram, and even government portals.
Cybersecurity expert Javvad Malik urges users to adopt strong, unique passwords and always enable multi-factor authentication. Users are now strongly advised to update their passwords and use password managers to safeguard their accounts.
