Found something in common with Hitler: Hackers stole DNA data of Putin from the nephew of the Russian leader

Mikhail Putin took a genetic test and carelessly stored the data on his computer with a simple password.

Russian President Vladimir Putin closely guards his personal information, especially his DNA data. However, hackers managed to obtain it from the computer of his nephew, Mikhail Putin, who underwent a genetic test two years ago. This was reported by BILD.

According to the report, hackers hacked into the 58-year-old Mikhail Putin’s computer on behalf of a state agency. Mikhail, the son of the Russian president’s cousin, was re-elected in 2023 as a member of the Board of Directors and Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom for a five-year term. During the same year, Mikhail Putin received the results of his genetic test, conducted by the leading Russian company Genotek. He stored the data on his computer.

It is noted that Vladimir Putin’s grandparents are the great-grandparents of Mikhail Putin. Therefore, the genetic similarity between the two Putins is 6.25%. Both Mikhail and Vladimir carry the same male Y-haplogroup, as they share a common ancestor on their paternal line. This means they have the same mutation on the Y chromosome.

This genetic lineage traces its origins to the territory of modern-day Kosovo. It is found in 30% of the people living there. In the Balkans, the figure is approximately 15%, while in Russia, it is less than 5%. Surprisingly, many representatives of E-V13 have been found in the Volga region of Russia. According to one theory, their ancestors arrived in the Volga region in the 16th century when Tsar Ivan IV the Terrible fought against the Kazan Khanate and recruited soldiers for his army.

The E-V13 DNA may present certain risks for its carriers, including Mikhail and Vladimir Putin.

This includes an increased risk of prostate cancer. A 2024 study revealed a link between the illness and the Putin genome.

Additionally, in 2010, British tabloids reported that Adolf Hitler was also a representative of the rare E-V13 haplogroup (also known as E1b1b).
