Vladimir Putin ridiculed by Russians for ’deploying apparent body double to Ukraine frontline’

Social media users have mocked Russian President Vladimir Putin, questioning his attendance at the Kursk region war zone, as they suspect he sent an unreliable body double instead.
Rebellious Russians have blasted Vladmir Putin for sending "a badly disguised body double" to the Ukraine war’s front line this week.
Putin’s own people were left stunned by the alleged PR Stunt – which saw the supposed leader attend the Kursk region well inside the war zone. During the visit, the ruler – who has long been accused of using body doubles to protect himself – appeared much slimmer in his face and physique. Eagle-eyed users also noticed that the person had normal-sized handwritten notes instead of Putin’s usual large, printed scripts.
And one expert on European affairs also told The Mirror "you never can be sure" if Vlad has actually made an appearance or not, while pointing out this Army-clad version of the President looked "less Botoxed".
Other Russians also blasted the appearance as "pathetic" and claimed he was the same body double who has been used before. One person said: “Of all the doppelgängers, they picked the most pathetic one." Another user wrote: “He’s the same [double] who went to hug the residents of the ’liberated’ cities in Ukraine."

Someone else said: “That’s not Putin… It’s just another clone out on a trip. Badly disguised, even painted on his eyebrows for some reason. There are no real [disguise] specialists left anymore. Even the makeup artists seem to be from a funeral home.” Another user said: “Of all the doppelgängers, they picked the most pathetic one."
There were claims the curious footage of Putin at the command centre may have been filmed in Moscow to avoid the danger of Putin venturing near the war zone, unlike his enemy Volodymyr Zelensky who frequently supports his troops at the front. One user said: "Everyone had a laugh over the ’camouflage show’ of the Kremlin ghoul.

"No one believed in the reality of the ghoulish body being transported to Kursk. But did the Kursk headquarters get moved to Valdai [in north Russia where Putin has a high security palace]? Or did they just build some cheap set at Mosfil [Russia’s Hollywood in Moscow]?"
Another sceptic blasted: “Now we know why they grabbed Ukraine by the throat and demanded a ceasefire for a month. So that Putin, without fear, without his [nuclear] briefcase, in camouflage, could crawl out of his bunker and for the first time arrive at the front line in Kursk.”

Sharing his thoughts on Putin’s strange appearance, Prof Antony Glees, Emeritus Professor of Politics, Economics and International Studies at the University of Buckingham told The Mirror: “Putin’s appearance was interesting – if it was Putin, you can never be sure. I thought he looked gaunt, grim, obsessed. Less Botoxed from the front but still puffy at the sides.
Users were quick to comment that the person seen during Putin’s Kursk visit was not the Russian leader ( Image: Kremlin.ru/e2w)
“I had the feeling that he had somehow shrunk into himself, perhaps because of being in those fatigues. He wants us to see him as Russia’s soldier No. 1 when in fact he’s never done any fighting himself, unlike Churchill, say, who was entitled to wear a uniform.
“Yes, he wants to come over as a warlord, a modern Genghis Khan but to me he remains the snivelling scheming KGB killer that he has always been."
