Harry Kane revelled in his achievement after becoming Tottenham Hotspur 's new all-time record goalscorer against "one of the best teams in the world."
The Spurs striker, 29, surpassed the legendary Jimmy Greaves ' goalscoring record with the only goal in Tottenham's rousing 1-0 victory over Manchester City. Kane, who almost joined the Citizens 18 months ago, struck in the 15th minute to down Pep Guardiola 's side in North London on Sunday.
Post-match, the England captain was beaming with pride and told Sky Sports: "It's hard to put it into words, just a magical moment and I was so desperate to do it with a win as well, I wanted to win so bad. Once we went 1-0 up it was just about keeping the clean sheet and to do it in front of the home fans just a moment I'll never forget.
"Especially being here at home in front of the fans, there's been so much talk about it over the last couple of weeks and I just wanted to get it done as soon as possible so to do it in a big game against one of the best teams in the world, it's a special feeling."
Not only did the goal mean Kane is now Tottenham's all-time record goalscorer, but also the fastest man to reach 200 Premier League goals. Surpassing the speed of Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney, the 29-year-old needs 61 more to become the top-flight's most prolific marksman.

"It's a great feeling," Kane went on to say. "When I started playing regularly eight or nine years ago it weren't even in my imagination to score 200 Premier League goals so to be there now is just exciting. I've got plenty more years left, hopefully a few more to come. Back when Tim Sherwood gave me my first start and I was so desperate to make an impression then and score, that was just the start.

"A lot of hard work between that game with Mauricio [Pochettino] and all the coaches, another good feeling. A complete hero, one of the best strikers to have played the game so even to be in that company is a special feeling. Overtaking him, I'm sure his family will be watching and they'll be proud as well, just overall a really good night."
He then paid tribute to Spurs icon Greaves, who died in September 2021 aged 81.
