Bus carrying schoolchildren collides with lorry on major road

Sixteen people have been injured after a bus carrying schoolchildren was involved in a crash.

The A46 is blocked northbound near Syston after the collision involving a bus and a truck this morning.

There were 16 passengers who sustained minor injuries, while five other people were taken to hospital ‘as a precaution’.

The road is still closed and is set to remain closed for several more hours while police and other emergency services are at the scene.

An official diversion route is in place but drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
