Prince Andrew faces eviction from royal lodge, told to ’pay up or get out’

Prince Andrew has been given a deadline to find £2million for repairs to Royal Lodge, otherwise he faces being kicked out of the property, a source has claimed

Prince Andrew is on the verge of being kicked out of his royal lodge.

The Duke of York needs to cough up a hefty £2million for repairs or pack his bags, an insider has claimed. The 64-year-old Royal has apparently tripped up over the Crown Estate’s lease rules that demand regular sprucing up of the property, or else he must leave.

The source claimed that he’s got until the year’s end to pay for a makeover of the Grade II listed pad in Windsor Great Park, Berkshire, or he’ll be shown the door.

It’s rumoured this is "the closest Andrew has come to being evicted" since he hung up his Royal duties two years back. The insider revealed that the Duke was thrown "into a spin" when his brother, King Charles, axed all private funding, including for his personal security.

"Andrew has been asked to prove that he has the financial resources in place to conduct the necessary repairs to Royal Lodge," a source said. "If he is unable to do that by the end of the year, formal discussions will be held with the Crown Estate about how best to move forward," reports the Mirror.

"The Duke’s got a deal with the Crown Estate to stay put in the £30million mansion till 2078. Under the lease agreement, Andrew has been given explicit guidelines about what he can and cannot do to the 30-room mansion. For instance, the contract "requires that the character of the property be maintained as a Royal Park and forest.

"The Prince is also obligated by the contract to cover the costs of refurbishment to restore and maintain the historic building. Currently, Royal Lodge is in a state of disrepair - with paint flaking off the walls and moss growing on the exterior.
