Man appalled to find just one lonely hazelnut in his Cadbury's chocolate bar

Dairy Milk Wholenut fans have long loved the iconic bar for its crunchy nuttiness, with chocolate giant Cadbury promising 'a whole lot of chocolate, and a whole lot of nut'. Unfortunately, one chocolate lover felt his bar fell rather short of this tempting description after peeling back the distinctive purple wrapper, only to find one lonely hazelnut nestled inside.

Taking to TikTok with a video of the offending bar, musician Matt O'Baoill expressed his astonishment at its clear lack of nuttiness, showing just one hazelnut bump on the otherwise smooth surface. Lamenting the purchase in the clip, Matt declared that he'd been 'robbed, bamboozled, hoodwinked, flabbergasted, taken aback, taken for a fool'.

Speaking with the Metro, Matt explained that he'd purchased the bar for his girlfriend at his local Spar, and being ‘in a rush’, he had skipped the all-important ‘braille’ test, which involves checking the bottom of the bar for a decent amount of hazelnut. He could never have imagined just how sparsely populated the 180-gram bar was, nut-wise.

Matt, 28, told the publication: "There may have been some extra nut remnants, some nut shrapnel, but that was all there was in there. It was a great disappointment."

A number of Matt's TikTok followers were equally taken aback by the decidedly un-nutty bar, which looks more like a Dairy Milk bar with a rogue nut than anything else and rushed to the comments section to express their outrage.

One person fumed: "Nah now that is a liberty."

Another commented: "This is why I always feel the back of the packet to see how many hazelnuts there are."

A third, who Matt jokingly dubbed a 'Cadbury apologist', reasoned: To be fair they said 'whole nut', not 'whole nuts'."

A Cadbury spokesperson told the Metro: "We're very sorry to hear about this customer's experience. This will be investigated further but so far is an isolated incident, the quality of our products is of paramount importance."
