Ipswich railway station murder probe as young woman knifed to death in horror incident

Suffolk Police and paramedics were called at around 7.10pm to reports a woman had been stabbed on Burrell Road near the train station in Ipswich - the woman, who has not been identified but was in her 20s, died at the scene

A young woman has been stabbed to death by a railway station and police have launched a murder probe after the horror sent shockwaves through a town tonight.

A murder probe has been launched in Ipswich after a woman was fatally stabbed on Burrell Road near the railway station, Suffolk Police have confirmed. Police found a woman, aged in her 20s suffering horrific serious knife wounds. Despite the best efforts of paramedics and police, the victim, a woman in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The tragic incident occurred today with emergency services called to the scene around 7.10pm. As of 11pm Tuesday, no arrests have been made, and detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Burrell Road remains shut off as officers continue their investigation into the night.

Detective Chief Inspector Tam Burgess stated: "Emergency services, including a number of police resources, were deployed to the scene and those in the area will continue to see an increased police presence throughout tonight and the coming days. A murder investigation has been launched and we are in the early stages of our enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, however it is believed the parties are known to each other.

"We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information, no matter how small you may feel it is."

Suffolk Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward. They’re particularly interested in hearing from drivers with dashcam footage, or residents with CCTV or doorbell cameras in the area, who are asked to review any footage between 6.30pm and 7.30pm for anything that may be relevant.
