Lee Clark has declared that it's his “ultimate dream” to see Liverpool starlet Bobby play for Newcastle in the future.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed an eye-catching breakout season at Anfield this campaign. Clark has made 11 appearances in all competitions and has been in excellent form.

He made his full Premier League debut earlier this month, played in the Carabao Cup final win against Chelsea. He also shone in the Reds’ 6-1 Europa League win against Sparta Prague, with a goal and assist apiece.

Clark started his career in Birmingham City’s youth ranks during his father's spell as manager at St Andrew's and moved to Newcastle in 2014 to potentially follow in his Dad’s footsteps at St James's Park.

After seven years with the Magpies, he quit for Liverpool. Clark senior - who made 265 appearances for the club over two spells - is still holding out hope that his son represents Newcastle one day.

Speaking on the Tippy Tappy Football podcast, he said: “Absolutely. I don’t know how many fathers and sons have done it for the club. I was lucky enough to do it 265 times. Who knows, he might have to do an Alan Shearer and come back.

"But yeah, that would be my ultimate dream. Definitely.”

While Clark has caught the eye at Liverpool this season, the Reds could be without his services for this weekend’s FA Cup clash against Manchester United. After scoring his first Liverpool goal, the youngster was taken off against Sparta Prague with an injury.

"He played incredibly," boss Jurgen Klopp said after the game. "It was his first goal but he won the ball back then and he was after another one.

"He is the one I am worried a bit about, as we wanted to take off Mo [Salah], but Bobby sits on the ground and says he feels something in the ankle. Hopefully it is nothing. The steps the boy made though, pfff [wow]!

"We've had such a difficult situation with all the injuries and then the boys stepped in and took their chances. So I'm very happy with that, they were exceptional again."

Clark signed a new long-term deal with Liverpool in December last year. In all, he has made 13 appearances for the Reds in all competitions. The youngster also has two caps for the England under-19 side.
