As if we didn't have enough to worry about, a hygiene expert has said something you should be aware of is 'boob-ne,' or boob acne.

Acne can be embarrassing wherever it occurs on the body, but in reality it's very common. It's one of the most well-known skin conditions, impactions millions of people around the world - of all ages.

The skin condition, which occurs when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells, can cause zits or spots, which can be hot or painful to touch. While acne most commonly develops on the face, it can also occur on the chest - accounting for around 15% of people who suffer from it.

Many things can cause acne, from hormones to medications, but when it comes to the chest, a hygiene expert has said sweating could be to blame. Mary Futher, who goes by the name Madame Sweat online, has shared her insights and a solution which she hopes will wipe out the insecurity once and for all.

Mary, who shares tips and tricks for cleaning and personal hygiene on social media, explained in a recent video: "You thought face acne is bad. Well, now there's something new to worry about. It's called boob-ne."

In the video, she explained the most common cause for this - sweat. She said: "We all know about breast sweat. It's common, and it's getting more and more common as temperatures are going up. It is causing acne because it traps the sweat and the bacteria in the area of the breast."

However, she also shared a two-step solution which she said will help banish the problem. Mary said: "There's a two-step solution. The first one is you want something antibacterial to wash with. Look for a soap that has salicylic acid, which is also exfoliating, and tea tree oil. The second step is to use a sweat powder. I like this because you can just put this all around. The breast area is so real that it's in the dictionary now. You don't have to put up with it. You treat it just like acne on the face."

The video has now been seen by more than 8,200 people, and many were thankful to have a solution to the embarrassing problem. One person wrote: "What a great tip, thank you," while another added: "Finally a solution. I started having a year ago and I wasn't sure what to do about them but now I do."

If the above doesn't help, and you have mild acne, you can speak to a pharmacist about medicines to treat it. If it still doesn't help, or if it's making you feel very unhappy, see a GP.
