Robert De Niro and Tiffany Chen were spotted taking a break from parenting duties after the couple were on the receiving end of brutal comments at the Oscars.
Host Jimmy Kimmel came under fire for his jokes about the Oscar-winning actor, 80, and his 45-year-old girlfriend, as he poked fun at the couple’s massive age gap. During the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday, the talk show host began his monologue, and picked on several Hollywood A-listers, including Emma Stone and Robert Downey Jr. However, he there were gasps when he decided to take aim at Hollywood icon Robert, who was nominated for his role in Martin Scorsese’s epic Killers of the Flower Moon.
Noting that Jodie Foster, who starred in the 1976 classic Taxi Driver alongside Robert, was also in the audience and up for an acting award, Jimmy launched into a searing joke about the Raging Bull star’s affection for women who are younger than him. “Here’s some fun Oscar trivia: 48 years ago, Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster were nominated for Taxi Driver, and they’re both nominated again tonight. 1976 was the year,” he said. “In 1976, Jodie Foster was young enough to be Robert De Niro’s daughter. Now, she’s 20 years too old to be his girlfriend.”

Fans did notice that Jodie, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Nyad, laughed as mouthed: “It’s true,” while Robert threw his head back and laughed raucously.

The couple were spotted the next day holding hands as they arrived at a taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live! In Hollywood, and looked happy and relaxed as they made their way inside the El Capitan Entertainment Centre. The Goodfellas star protected his eyes with a pair of dark sunglasses, while Tiffany looked casual in leggings and a black puffer vest.

They were spotted kissing on a friend’s luxury yacht in the south of France, confirming their relationship, and last year, it was announced they had welcomed their first child together. In May, Robert revealed the birth of his seventh child, daughter Gia Virginia Chen De Niro, who had been born one month earlier. Back in February, the award-winning actor told People his daughter was “such an adorable baby,”, and sweetly added: “It's a great joy and relief to just be with her in the moment.”
