Arsenal are set to hold onto top spot in the Premier League for at least three weeks.
The Gunners’ late victory against Brentford saw them claim pole position, while Liverpool’s draw with Manchester City at Anfield ensured they would remain there. With all of the title contenders taking a break from league action for a week, it means that Mikel Arteta's men will stay top throughout the international break.
There is still European action to come for Arsenal though, as they attempt to turn their Champions League tie against Porto around. The Portuguese side ran out victorious during the first leg.
Ahead of that game, Mikel Arteta has already been putting his side through its paces. Take a look at all of the news to come out of the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.
Arsenal defender William Saliba has claimed the Gunners' "horrible" style of play has forced them into contention for the Premier League title. Speaking after his side’s success against Brentford, the Frenchman said: “I think we were horrible [to play against] in the last seven or eight games. Now we have to keep going like this.”
Chelsea complete record-breaking Enzo Fernandez transfer after deadline day rushAway from the Premier League title race, Arsenal’s first job is to progress past Porto. And Saliba believes that should they manage that then they could be considered as bonafide challengers for a European crown, too.
Asked if the match against Porto presents them with a brilliant opportunity to do that, he replied: “Of course. We have to win, we can’t wait.”
