A woman whose body was found after being reported missing by her family died as a result of immersion in water.
Zahooran Begum, 60, had been missing for three days after last being seen on March 2. An inquest into her death has been opened and adjourned.
South Wales Police were called to Cardiff Bay at around 11.20am on March 6. Officers confirmed a body had been found in Cardiff Bay on March 6 and was later identified as Ms Begum, reported Wales Online.
An inquest opening at Pontypridd Coroner's Court on Monday heard Ms Begum, of Grangetown, was "depressed" at the time of her disappearance and her family were extremely concerned. Numerous enquiries were made by police to find her, but her body was discovered in the River Taff at the Penarth Portway. An investigation concluded there were no suspicious circumstances.
A post mortem was carried out on March 7 which concluded Ms Begum's provisional cause of death as immersion/submersion. Area coroner Patricia Morgan adjourned the inquest until further enquiries had been carried out and expressed her "deepest condolences" to Ms Begum's family.
