Buying a new phone is just the start, as keeping topped up with data can become a pricey pastime for many users. As mobile providers up their 2024 rates, more consumers are looking at ways to keep their connectivity costs low, and the latest deal from giffgaff may help you achieve that.

The retailer has dropped £10, a month, off its usual £35 monthly rate which'll see users save a mighty £180 across the 18-month contract. No doubt a welcomed saving considering many providers are upping their prices.

The plan auto-renews each month you will be tied into a contract, something eager shoppers may want to bear in mind if you find a better deal in six months you won't be able to leave without paying an exit fee. However, unlike rival providers like Sky Mobile, EE, O2, and non-clubcard-holding Tesco Mobile users there will be no mid-contract hikes.

As giffgaff says boldly on its site: "No mid-contract price rises on any 18-month contract with giffgaff", this applies to all plans bought in 2024, music to many tech buyers' ears in this day and age and it's not the only perk. Users will also get a 5GB data allowance to use when travelling in the EU.

It's not as generous as some providers, but it's a perk frequently seen since Brexit. As well as the unlimited amount of data, 5GB EU roaming, you'll also get unlimited use of UK calls and texts. So, how does it compare to rival providers?

Loyal giffgaff shoppers may be well acquainted with its more flexible rolling plans too, you can lock on the unlimited data plan for a higher £35 a month - as you'll pay more each month for the ease of being able to leave every 30 days. Usually, this is one way for users to get out of potential price hikes.

Like with provider SMARTY, which runs on Three Mobile's network, where it offers competitive pay-as-you-go SIM plans. It's here where you can find 60GB of data currently being sold for the usual 40GB price.
