Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher and former Manchester City defender Micah Richards have made a big bet on the upcoming showdown between their two former clubs.

The two ex-players are eagerly awaiting Sunday's game, which sees Liverpool hosting the current Premier League champions in a crucial match for this year's title race. They discussed the game while working together on CBS Sports' Champions League coverage.

Their chat ended with a wager for a new Thom Brown designer suit, which could cost the loser more than $2,000, based on prices from the company's website. The bet was placed as they appeared on American TV to cover the night's matches, including Manchester City's 3-1 victory over FC Copenhagen.

After the match, a confident Richards said: "Wonderful evening. I said before the game, and I wasn't being cocky, Jamie (Carragher) was alluding to the fact I was maybe trying to be cocky, I wasn't. I just think Man City have got too much quality."

"They're in a good run of form at this moment in time and long may it continue because these next couple of weeks, Liverpool, Newcastle, the Arsenal."

After Jamie Carragher asked, "Has Pep ever won at Anfield? ", Micah Richards responded: "Once. We did stats, didn't we. I can't remember when it was, it was once in nine, and four draws as well."

Carragher replied: "One in nine, when there was no crowd. I'm going there."

When presenter Kate Abdo asked what they were willing to wager on the game, Richards answered: "Hmm, a suit! I want a new Thom Brown suit."

Curious, Carragher asked: "How much are they? " He then finalised the bet as the pair shook hands and Richards agreed he would purchase any suit Carragher desires if Liverpool win, within reason.

Manchester City could possibly be without Jeremy Doku for the game. With Jack Grealish already out due to an injury, Pep Guardiola confirmed that Doku is struggling with an injury suffered during the Manchester derby following his absence from the match against Copenhagen. Guardiola explained: "He had some muscular problems so we did not want to take the risk."

On the other hand, Liverpool have been encouraged by Mohamed Salah 's return to the squad for their match against Sparta Prague. Ahead of the Europa League game, Jurgen Klopp said: "Mo Salah has travelled with us, he's trained for two days and is full of energy. We want to be careful, but this is a super intense period of the season. We want to use him. It's just good news."
