Everton are keeping tabs on Hull’s promising defender Jacob Greaves.

Greaves, a regular in Liam Rosenior’s play-off chasing side, has been monitored regularly by the Toffees. And the son of Tigers legend Mark, rated as one of the standout centre-backs in the Championship, is in their thoughts ahead of the summer.

The Toffees are eyeing Greaves, 23, amid interest in one of their key central defenders Jarrad Branthwaite with Manchester United and Tottenham among his admirers.

Since returning from a successful loan spell at Cheltenham in the 2019/20 campaign, Greaves has rarely missed a game for Hull and already made over 200 first-team appearances in his young career.

West Ham considered a move for left-footer Greaves in January and Crystal Palace have been keen in the past too. Hull secured the future of prized asset Greaves in August 2022 when he signed a new deal that runs initially to 2026.

Though what happens this summer with Greaves will be heavily influenced by the success of Hull’s promotion bid. Hull are currently sixth in the Championship and clinching a return to the Premier League would significantly boost their hopes of retaining academy product Greaves.

Greaves has made 34 appearances for Hull this season, captaining the Tigers on several occassions. He received particular praise last month from boss Liam Rosenior, who pointed to the defender's growth this season.

"I have to say first and foremost before we speak about his, his development and his growth is absolutely magnificent. I'm seeing it in front of my eyes. It's one of the best parts of my job," Rosenior said.

"He's becoming a real leader in the dressing room even more so than before. The way he lives, the way he works in the gym, the way he trains is absolutely top. We're working with him on his temperament.

"He's still shouting at Daws (Andy Dawson) in training every time he gives a decision against him. And that's part of his nature because he wants to win. He's on nine bookings. I don't want him to change his way of playing.

"I've got Macca (Sean McLouglin) who's chomping at the bit to play. That's why you need a squad, but he's been magnificent for us and he's a huge part of things for us. He's key for us actually, in terms of being successful this season."
