Chelsea star Sam Kerr will have to stand trial over allegations of racially aggravated harassment of a police officer.
Kerr appeared in court on Monday via video link after being charged with using insulting, threatening or abusive words that caused alarm or distress to a police officer. The charges against the 30-year-old striker stem from an incident in Twickenham on January 30.
Appearing at Kingston Crown Court, she spoke only to confirm her identity and to enter a not guilty plea to the charge.
The Australia international was told she will have to attend a four-day trial in February 2025, during which two police officers are expected to give evidence.
Kerr joined Chelsea in 2019 and has scored 99 goals in 128 matches for the club, winning four Women’s Super League titles, as well as two League Cups and the Community Shield. She is currently on the sidelines, having sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in January.
