Journalist and presenter Dan Walker has shared his surprising new job away from TV as he says "it’s the dream!"
The 46-year-old has opened up about his upcoming career change as he takes on the new challenge. The Channel 5 star took to his X, formerly known as Twitter, page to share the exciting news.
He explained that he is now a co-owner of a cafe. He said: "You know I go on about cake a lot? Well… I am officially now the part-owner of a cafe!!! It’s something my wife and I have been thinking about for a while and an opportunity came up just down the road from our house in Sheffield at a place we love, right at the heart of the community.
"And with friends who are brilliant. So… feel free to pop along to the Brook Coffee Rooms in Fulwood in Sheffield… I’ll be the one in the corner eating a cronut It is officially… THE DREAM." Dan shared a series of photos along with the announcement as he said he couldn't pass up the opportunity to own his own cafe. He is taking on the Brook Coffee Rooms.

Dan is having a career change (Getty Images)The news comes after Dan recently opened up about his out-of-body experience when he crashed his bike last year. Dan was hit by a car whilst out cycling in February last year. At the time, he shared photos on social media after the incident in Sheffield, which showed him with a bloodied and swollen face. He opened up about his life in an interview with the Times and it was suggested that he experienced an "out-of-body experience" in the incident.

Dan said: "In my mind I was cycling down a French boulevard, a treelined boulevard, which I think I'd been to before but not on a bike. Then all of a sudden I was watching myself on the floor, watching a screen, and then on that screen I saw these two heads appear. And then I jumped back into myself and I was on the floor and those two faces were the ambulance workers."
He went on to talk about his decision to not ask the police to pursue charges. Dan told the outlet that everyone makes "mistakes" and recalled receiving criticism from both drivers and cyclists over the incident last year. He suggested that he hadn't wanted to "enter" the details around it and instead was just "very happy" to still be alive.
When the incident happened, Dan posted on social media at the time, writing: "Bit of an accident this morning. Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike. Face is a mess but I don't think anything is broken."
